Exhibitions Visited

20th October 2012

Today I visited the spring Art Centre in Havant as they had a small display of Betty Peppers work. She is a Jewellery designer maker. She does altered books that are inspired by stories, memories, things from the past, over hearings and misgivings. I decided to see her work as she used a lot of vintage lace in her work. I love the intricacy's of the jewellery and her work does have a feel of age and that it does come from the past.

I visited Laura Ellen Bacon's installation in Winchester today. I have read a lot about her in magazines and on the interenet so was interest to see some of her work. The installation was made up from 3 construction of willow that made intimate spaces in the gallery space. The feel of nature in the room and smell of the branches was calming. The pattern that was created by the branches overlapping each other and the thinner areas where you could look through had a lace like feel.
I love that from the outside of these constructions look like a wild hedge but you walk into it, it looks beautiful and is carming.

The photos did not come out great.
